Fiscal Responsibility

Blair Eddins

Families in the 94th District know the meaning of hard work, and with that, the importance of being fiscally responsible. Your hard earned money is meant to be spent by YOU and your families as YOU deem fit, not used to bail others out through excessive taxation and over-regulation. District 94 deserves leaders in Raleigh who not only understand the meaning of fiscal responsibility but have a proven track record of exercising it. I have been blessed to operate several successful businesses: from farming and agriculture, to landscaping and grading. I have chaired finance committees and learned firsthand that overbearing government regulations and unnecessary red tape accomplish nothing but hurt families and privately owned businesses in the long run.

I’ll always give credit where it is due and Republicans in the General Assembly have done a phenomenal job lowering taxes on hard working North Carolinians, despite our current Governor’s best efforts. On October 3, 2023, the North Carolina budget legislation became law without the signature of Governor Cooper. This benefited families and businesses in North Carolina in multiple ways, most notably by reducing individual income taxes. This is why we need to send responsible leaders to Raleigh.

However, make no mistake my friends, there are those in Raleigh on the other side of the aisle that don’t support this type of legislation. They do not support taxpayer dollar accountability or the notion of individual responsibility. They would rather spend your hard earned money how THEY deem fit, funding high spending programs that severely impede our state’s economy. They want to see your most profitable businesses financially gutted while subsidizing, with our taxes, those unwilling to work. That’s not fair to the thousands of working families in the 94th District who deserve to be rewarded for their success, not penalized.

I write to you today with the promise that should I earn your vote to represent you in Raleigh, I will advocate and fight for policies that remove the red tape and over-regulation imposed by the government. I will support and sponsor legislation that empowers our citizens and ensures that they retain as much of their hard earned money as possible. Together, we can put more of your money back in your pocket!

Calvin Coolidge once said, “Collecting more taxes than is absolutely necessary is legalized robbery.” As your Representative in Raleigh, I will ensure that your opinions regarding the State budget are heard and duly echoed on the House floor. I will oppose policies introduced by those who seek to reward the lazy and punish the responsible.

Have a great day, and God bless North Carolina.
